ChatGPT Now Lets You Shop Right From ChatGPT…
Just the other day, I was thinking about how ChatGPT might at some point replace Google for search…
Then, I thought, “At some point, it will be the defacto search engine, replacing Google…”
Then, I realized, “If it overtakes Google, they’re going to start having ads on their interface…”
And then, about a week later, the announcement broke that ChatGPT is now introducing “Shopping” features!
OpenAI has launched a new shopping feature in ChatGPT, allowing users to explore product recommendations, view reviews, and receive purchase links - all within the chat interface.
Users can ask questions like “best coffee machine under $200 for small spaces,” and receive tailored suggestions based on preferences and reviews from sources like Reddit and editorial sites.
While purchases must still be completed on retailers' websites, this integration streamlines the product discovery process within ChatGPT.
The shopping feature is accessible globally to all ChatGPT users, including those without accounts.
This move positions ChatGPT as a direct competitor to Google in the online shopping space, offering a more user-centric and conversational shopping experience.
